ACT OF GIVING

This is the time of year when we are all reminded of giving. I must say it is a very special feeling when it comes to giving. Often it puts a smile on one’s face and warms the giver’s heart. Of course, whomever or whatever is on the receiving end may get these same feelings. And, I must say this is the reward in the giving in the first place.

We all take different journeys in performing the act of giving. It does not matter if it is giving of oneself, giving of money or giving of something else. What matters most is just giving!

Sadly, some never learn how to give! I must say, they are missing out on a true treasure in life. Still, there are others who learn at a very young age how to give. This is great and it would be great if we all learned so young! Then, there are those others who learn later in life how to give. I say: “Wonderful, at least they have learned!”

Nevertheless, it amazes me how many individuals actually have to lose something before they truly learn how to give. You often hear about a person who has lost a child and then they start a charity to give back to others. Maybe you heard about a person who may have lost a big sum of money. It is only then that they learn how to give to others. I could go on with many more examples, but you get the idea, I hope!

In any event, I will say right here that I belong to this last group! Although very painful to think about, it truly is a very important example! It is an example of how something good can come out of a bad situation. It is how one man learned how to give only after he suffered a tragedy! In closing, I would like to say: “Please remember to keep the faith and know that we all do have something to give!”

Happy Holidays To You All,
Jim
